| The Doubtless Bay Wine Company
is an exploration: personal, geographical and, of course, viticultural.
We operate a small but very much experimental vineyard property
near the foot of the Karikari Peninsula on Doubtless Bay in the
Northland Region of New Zealand.
The Doubtless Bay Wine Company acquired an existing vineyard established
in 1995, and in 1998 expanded it with new varieties and clones.
Over time it is intended to refine the selection of varieties and
rootstocks, and, but only if justified, to consider expanding production.
Recent years have produced many tests, and hopefully as many lessons
learned.
In 2001 the first wine was bottled under the Doubtless label.
In the tradition of the great explorers of the past with close
connections to Doubtless Bay, including the eminent botanist and
explorer Sir Joseph Banks from whom the Doubtless logo is derived,
our hope is to observe and to learn what our environment is most
naturally suited to produce, and to then try and achieve the best
that we can from in.
